The Blue Fairy Pack is getting ready for puppies! We plan to breed our girl Freddie in Winter/Spring of 2026. She is now fully mature and we completed all breed-specific health testing to ensure we produce healthy puppies. We selected a UK-based sire, Ottaryx Ouzel, not only to complement her conformation and temperament, but also to improve genetic diversity for the breed and our breeding program.

>> Our puppy girl Rachel joined the ranks of Blue Fairy Champions. In August 2017 she won her (2) Majors and completed requirements for the AKC Champion. She is now CH Blue Fairy’s Against All Odds.
>> We have received the 2017 Best Otterhound Breeder Award! Vetary has analyzed top Otterhound breeders and cross referenced positive social mention data with top analytics platforms. Our site was a clear winner with U.S. pet owners over the last 12 months. For context, Vetary awards breeders with best-in-class online buzz, content, visuals, and most importantly, a strong cause and devotion toward their breed of dogs.
>> In February 2017, our Bella (GCHB Blue Fairy’s Breaking Dawn, CGC, RN) became the first Blue Fairy Bronze Grand Champion, joining a pretty exclusive group of only a handful Otterhounds in the country. Great honor!
>> In January 2017, Bella received the invitation to the 2017 Westminster Dog Show in New York City. How cool is that..?!
>> We ended 2016 with a big bang! In December 2016, our Bella (GCH Blue Fairy’s Breaking Dawn, CGC, RN) won Group 3 and Group 1 awards in the Hound Group at the Shoreline and Malibu Kennel Club shows. Competing in the Best in Show ring was definitely the biggest highlight of the year.
>> In November 2016, our newest troublemaker Rachel earned her first AKC title: Puppy S.T.A.R! Good girl!
>> In August 2016, the entire Blue Fairy Pack took a trip to Greeley, CO for the 36th Otterhound National Specialty dog show. The entire pack participated and ended up with ribbons and trophies, even our Seniors Mamba and Leeloo. Ozzy won the Best Stud Dog award and met 4 of the puppies he sired in the last 2 years. Bella took the most prizes, competing against top 40 Otterhounds in the country: Best of Breed at the Rocky Mountain Hound Association show and Select Bitch at the National Specialty. We are very proud of our girl.
>> The Blue Fairy Pack is growing again! In May 2016 we decided to keep puppy Rachel from our “Gr8ful Eight” litter. Let the puppy fun begin (again!)
>> In March 2016, Bella (GCH Blue Fairy’s Breaking Dawn, CGC, RN) earned her International IABCA Championship. We enjoyed very much receiving written evaluations of our girl from 3 international judges.
>> The numbers are in and our Ozzy (GCH Blue Fairy’s Wizard of Oz) is ranked as #4 Otterhound in 2015 Breed Standings. Good boy Ozzy 🙂
>> In December 2015, we received very exciting news that our Bella (GCH Blue Fairy’s Breaking Dawn, CGC, RN) was invited to the 3rd AKC Rally National Championship. Eligibility criteria included 3 scores of 90 or higher, which is an accomplishment for any Otterhound. She was the only Otterhound qualified and invited to the event. We are very very proud!
>> Our superstar Bella (GCH Blue Fairy’s Breaking Dawn, CGC, RN) earned her Rally Novice title! She competed in Rally trails at Bahia Sur Kennel Club shows in June 2015 and finished with high qualifying scores of 97, 92 and 97. She truly is special 🙂
>> In May 2015, our Bella (GCH Blue Fairy’s Breaking Dawn, CGC) was awarded Best of Breed prize and Owner-Handler Hound Group 1 placement @ Mt Palomar Kennel Club show. Go Girl!!
>> Our boy Ozzy (GCH Blue Fairy’s Wizard of Oz, CGC) has been very busy this spring! His return to the show ring proved to be great fun. He won the Best of Breed competition at the Hound Classic in Silverado, CA in April 2015. Good boy!
>> In March 2015, Ozzy followed in the paw-steps of his Mom Mamba (CH Blue Fairy’s Black Mamba, CGC, RN, VO) and earned an International Championship title at IABCA shows. He represented us well!
>> Happy New Year! Blue Fairy Hounds started 2015 at the SoCal Hound Show in Indio, CA with Ozzy (GCH Blue Fairy’s Wizard of Oz, CGC) winning the Best of Breed and Bella (GCH Blue Fairy’s Breaking Dawn, CGC) taking the Best of Opposite title. Good dogs!
>> We ended 2014 in style: our beautiful Bella is the new AKC Grand Champion! She is now GCH Blue Fairy’s Breaking Dawn, CGC. We could not be more happy and proud!
>> Our girl Bella and her littermates Addie and Waylon received their OFA CHIC numbers confirming that they have completed health testing appropriate for Otterhounds and the results were made public. Health records for all Blue Fairy hounds are available on the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) web site.
>> More great Summer 2014 news! Bella’s littermate Addie got her AKC Championship title at the South Bay Kennel Club show in August 2014. CH Blue Fairy’s Paper Moon is the 9th Blue Fairy Champion!! Very exciting!
>> Phoebe joins the Blue Fairy Champions Club! Our little girl earned her AKC title at the Cabrillo Kennel Club show in Valley Center in July 2014. Her official new name: CH Blue Fairy’s Legends of the Fall.
>> In February 2014, our Bella won her second major at the Silver Bay Kennel Club show in Del Mar, CA and completed requirements for the AKC Championship title. She’s now CH Blue Fairy’s Breaking Dawn.
>> In November 2013, our Phoebe got her first AKC title: Canine Good Citizen (CGC). Our puppy girl is growing up too fast!
>> In August 2013, only 8 months after becoming the AKC Champion, our boy Ozzy completed requirements for the AKC Grand Championship title. He is now GCH Blue Fairy’s Wizard of Oz and the first Blue Fairy Grand Champion. Very cool!
>> At the end of April 2013, our Bella passed the test for the AKC CGC title. She is the 5th Blue Fairy Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and an awesome breed ambassador!
>> In February 2013, Blue Fairy Otterhounds have been recognized as a Breeder of Merit by the American Kennel Club. AKC Breeder of Merit participants are dedicated to breeding beautiful purebred dogs whose appearance, temperament, and ability are true to their breed. >> Blue Fairy pack started 2013 in style at the Inland Empire Hound Show of Southern California in Indio, CA. Our boy Ozzy won the Winners Dog title (a 4-point Major) and became the AKC Champion!
>> Bella’s debut at 2013 Hound Show was equally exciting. She won Best in Puppy Sweepstakes, Winners Bitch and Best of Winners title, her first 4-point Major. Pretty impressive for a 10-month old puppy’s first time in the ring. We could not be happier with the new generation of Blue Fairy hounds!
>> Mamba, Leeloo, Ozzy and his brother Woody received their OFA CHIC numbers! It means that they have completed health testing appropriate for the breed and the results were made public. All Blue Fairy puppies and adults actively support health testing and research. Their health records are available on the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) web site.
>> Blue Fairy Pack made it to National Geographic TV! You can see Starr, Mamba and Leeloo in NatGeo Special “And Man Created Dog” released in August 2010. Visit National Geographic Channel Web Site for details and schedules.
>> It’s official: C.J. is the new AKC Champion, just like his sisters Angel, Skye, Leeloo & Mamba. He is the 5th Champion in our 2007 litter which puts his Mom Starr in the Otterhound Club of America Registry of Merit. Pretty awesome 🙂
